24 B_English for General Communication: Listening and Speaking

This course aims to build effective and efficient speaking and listening skills in standard English at a proficiency level equivalent to CEFR A2+. The learning materials cover the development of knowledge and skills in spoken production and interaction, basic receptive skills, learning skills, and digital literacy in an integrated manner. The learning process will help students identify general messages, main ideas, and detailed information in spoken and multimodal texts presented in standard English, as well as develop speaking abilities in various contexts such as the workplace, school, and leisure.

The listening activities target spoken texts such as short instructions/directions, informative texts, advertisements, news, and similar materials in the form of monologues and dialogues. The speaking activities focus on various types of simple spoken texts, such as role-playing announcements, explaining a tutorial, role-playing phone conversations, giving a weather report, introducing a lecture or presentation, role-playing interviews, participating in discussions about advertisements and news (general news & current affairs, computers, science and technology, entertainment, art & culture), as well as making a simple video advertisement.
